Sunday March 13,2011 (Part 1)

Posted on Updated on

Was an awesome day.. filled with Church.. end to end praise and worship, powerful sermon, inspiring prayer, and family and fellowship.

It was not my regular Sunday, sure there was church, lots of it, but it just wasn’t the regular, usual day..

i will definitely remember this one. Grateful for a day unlike the rest in this journey of life im on..

&nbsp

The day started out with waking up and listening to one of my church’s service online. I was planning on making it to one of the earlier services. My pastor was doing a sermon series entitled ‘A New Assignment’ from 2 Timothy, talking about how to take on a new assignment in life, whatever the case may be (new job, responsibility or role in life, new season, relationship, etc.)

That day, the topic was over ‘Choose Christ over the Crowd’

dealing with 2 Timothy (Chapter 3) and how we’re living in the last days..

{ and lets face it, ever since Jesus died on the Cross over 2000 years ago, we have been living in the last days….and all thats going on in the world today, theres definitely proof to that reality.. but its already truth ūüôā ¬†}

But my pastor opened up his sermon with talking about Lebron James and his infamous ‘The decision’ special he did on ESPN last summer, ¬†(i thought that was interesting, because he tied it to the fact that we are faced with making crucial decisions everyday, big and small)

In 2 Timothy Chapter 3 , Paul’s message to Timothy was sent with a decision needing to be made by timothy. Either choose Christ or the crowd..

thats when it got good. verses 1-9 explains how the ‘crowd’ lives in these last days (selfish, unloving, unforgiving, no self control, and denying of God’s power)

but starting in verse 10, its starts out as ‘You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith , patience , love, endurance’ (NIV)

Pastor stated that Paul was telling Timothy that , even know the crowd doing what they’re doing looks tempting, ¬†he already knows the way of Christ [Paul being a really good example of ¬†Christ]

..then there was verse 12: ‘In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.’

the message here is simple: If you want, desire, feel the need to, trying, praying about, or actually are living right, and living for Christ, you WILL be persecuted, but going thru those tests, gives you the testimony, going thru that mess, leads to spreading the message!!

My pastor said it like this: “If you dont go thru something, you wont know just how GOOD God really is!”

verses 13-17 says simply, ungodly people that ‘seem’ to be getting what they want in life (now) will eventually fall to themselves (soon) , and that we, striving to be Godly, MUST remain faithful to what we have been taught, which are the Holy Scriptures, which can bring salvation and wisdom. v. 16-17 says (my fav verse from this part) ‘ALL scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. so that all God’s people may be¬†thoroughly¬†equipped for every good work’

It was a REAL good message, much needed, and well received, im praying i can continue to apply this message in my life..

im really excited for the next, and final message in this series this Sunday, i’ll definitely let you know how that goes, post message and notes on here ¬†next week..

…after service, i was able to catch up with my uncle who ushers up there, and what i thought was just a passing through ‘hey, good to see you nephew/uncle, quick convo’ turned in him leading me in the prayer room to have a private prayer, all because he asked me simply, “what can i do for you”, and i simply replied, “pray for me”

the prayer was also very needed, and i know that God is answering the prayer as we speak, very thankful for loving family!

…now that wasn’t all for this day… there was more church..

and MAN, im talking about CHURCH..

to be continued!
